Brahman District Roundtable

May 10, 2018  l  7:00 - 8:30 pm

Roundtable is a district monthly meeting typically held the second Thursday of every month at 7:00 pm at the Northside Education Center (707 Fahrenthold St, El Campo, 77437) to help unit leaders plan and carry out their own program. Roundtable is a form of supplemental training for volunteers. The objective of Roundtable is to give leaders program ideas; information on policy, events, and training opportunities; and an opportunity to share experiences and enjoy fun and fellowship with other Scouting leaders. As a result of the roundtable experience, unit leaders will be inspired, motivated, informed, and able to provide a stronger program for their Scouts. Annual Planning: A common element of strong units is they all have a good annual program planned a year in advance. The plan is then shared with all families in the form of an annual program calendar. Two other key elements of successful units are trained leaders and having the right leaders.

Day Camp

Excitement is waiting as Cub Scouts travel the world on a passport to adventure as they learn new skills, and make new friends. Day Camp is a council camp hosted by districts for Scouts entering 1st through 5th grade for the 2018-2019 school year. Many volunteers are needed to make camp a success, so please consider volunteering. Adult volunteers can also register their non-Scouting children ages 3-5 (potty trained) or girls ages 6-13. Boy Scouts and youth ages 14-17 can also volunteer. An adult/guardian must register with a Tiger (1st grader). The registration fee is $76.50 for the first Scout and $75 for each additional Scout. The registration fee includes a t-shirt, patch, program supplies, and a mug or water bottle. A registered parent/guardian must be onsite at all times when tot-lots, siblings and Tigers are at camp.

The Silver Beaver Award is the highest form of recognition that a local council can bestow on a volunteer. In 1931, BSA President Mortimer L. Schiff recommended to the national board that an award be devised for recognition of distinguished service to youth in the area of a local council, and the concept of the Silver Beaver Award recognition was established. Nominations for the Silver Beaver Award are due to silverbeaver@shac.org by May 1st.
